Supercars fan favourite and father-of-two David Reynolds has been named among 10 elite Australian athletes vying for the Sports Dad of the Year award.

Now in its 15th year, the award showcases the contribution Australia's sporting elite make to their families both on and off the field.

The 2024 award winner will be announced on Father's Day, Sunday September 1.

Supercars talent has previously been recognised, with Reynolds’ current Team 18 teammate Mark Winterbottom named Sports Dad of the Year in 2012.

Last year’s winner, Manly NRL star and Queensland State of Origin captain Daly Cherry-Evans, matched his prize money to donate $10,000 to the Gotcha4Life Foundation.

The Sports Dad of the Year highlights 10 elite athletes across a range of sports, giving insights into how they juggle fatherhood with their sporting commitments.

This year's nominated Sports Dads are profiled on sportsdads.com.au, which will include questions and answers from the players about their families.

All voters have the opportunity to win special prizes for their own father this Father's Day, with the winning Philips Celebrity Sports Dad of the Year receiving $5000 to donate to their charity of choice.

Reynolds's childhood was steeped in racing, from gripping the roll cage in his dad's rally car to competing in go-karts with his brother, James.

These early experiences shaped his passion for motorsport, but fatherhood has shifted his focus.

Reynolds's children, Ryu (three) and Ravayah (one), have recently been trackside, filling the 2017 Bathurst winner with joy.

"Before, my life was all career-focused, pretty selfish at times, but now it’s all about my kids and family time," Reynolds reflects.

“It makes me so happy to see their beautiful faces as they come into the pits to see what their daddy does."

Reynolds strives to create a childhood for his kids as filled with love and memories as his own, balancing the demands of racing with his dedication to family.

His partner, Tahan, describes him as the "fun parent" who’s always present and engaged, making every moment count.

This year’s finalists also feature NRL stars Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Thomas Burgess and Reuben Cotter, Wallaby scrum-half Nic White, five-time Paralympian Brenden Hall, NBA and Boomers icon Joe Ingles, Olympic gold medallist and Grand Slam winner Matt Ebden, along with AFL greats Patrick Dangerfield and Lachie Neale, both celebrated for their leadership and multiple accolades, including the prestigious Brownlow Medal.

Vote now for Reynolds at sportsdads.com.au. Voting closes on Tuesday, August 27, and the Sports Dad of the Year winner will be announced on Father's Day.
