Erebus Motorsport cops fine over Warm Up pit incident
Brodie Kostecki car dropped without wheel fastened
Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood to start Sunday's 500km race from fourth
Erebus Motorsport has been fined over a pit lane incident during Sunday's Warm Up at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, after the Brodie Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood car was dropped without a wheel.
Kostecki handed the #1 Camaro over to Hazelwood during the 20-minute session, which was topped by Andre Heimgartner.
As the driver change was completed, the car was dropped off its air jacks, but the right-rear wheel was yet to be fastened.
Crew members had to hastily reapply the wheel before sending Hazelwood back out onto the track, with the #1 ultimately 11th in the session.
Motorsport Australia has since advised that Erebus has been fined $500 over the incident.
Speaking after the session, Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said: "It was a change on the back.
"We were practicing a change for the race, and it took longer than the driver change, which caught out the car controller, he said drop the car, and the change wasn't actually finished.
"It's just a procedural thing, we'll fix it, and it'll be fine."
The 500km race will start at 2:05pm AEST.
