Jack Perkins to complete Sandown double duty

Second-gen racer to compete in Sandown 500, Super2 round
Jack Perkins will complete double duty at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, after the second-generation racer was approved to race in the Dunlop Series.
Perkins will share the #7 Snowy River Caravans Mustang with James Courtney in the 500km main game event.
The Victorian returned to Super2 in Townsville in July, and aboard a retro-liveried Mustang, duly won a race and the round.
Perkins was also planning to return to the seat of his Blanchard Racing Team-prepared Super2 Ford, but initially announced he was ineligible to race.
He later took to social media to clarify his misinterpretation of the rules, regarding co-drivers racing in the Dunlop Series at enduro events.
On Monday, BRT received approval for Perkins to race.
"Well I’m now very happy to inform you all that we are racing in Super2 at Sandown in our Shaw and Partners Financial Services 1979 Peter Janson/Larry Perkins retro rocket," Perkins posted to social media.
"I’d like to personally thank Supercars, Blanchard Racing Team and all of the Super2 teams for their support on this which includes; Rachael and Ben Eggleston, Bruce Stewart and Carl Faux, Rod Nash, Brad Jones, Amin Chahda, Michael Anderson, Jason Gomersall, Todd Kelly, Murray Walker, Terry Wyhoon, Barry Ryan, Ryan McLeod and Paul Morris.
"Thanks again to all of our sponsors and supporters for their continue support as well; Shaw and Partners Financial Services, Southern Cross Truck Rentals, Muscle Car Warehouse, Castrol, TLC Auto Centre, Haeusler’s, Snowy River Caravans, Noble Logistics, Mannell Investments, CoolDrive Auto Parts and Blanchard Racing Team.
"Finally I must also thank the many fans and supporters who wanted to see this car on the grid at Sandown. It was very special to have so much support so thank you!
"Hopefully we can put on a good show this weekend and don’t forget to come and see us for a Cherry Ripe."
The 38-year-old will be one of five Super2 drivers doing double duty at Sandown, along with Kai Allen, Aaron Cameron, Cameron McLeod, Brad Vaughan and Cooper Murray.
Cameron Crick and Matt Chahda will compete in the 500km event, but will not compete in Super2 in a bid to focus on their main game commitments.
Supercars and Dunlop Series action will get underway at Sandown on Friday. Tickets for the September 13-15 event are on sale now.
