AIM Motorsport to sit out remaining 2024 rounds
Rollercoaster first three rounds for privateer team
Zane Morse scored three top 10s despite wrist injury
AIM Motorsport has opted to sit out the remaining rounds of the 2024 Dunlop Series, following a turbulent start to the season.
The privateer team expanded to two, then three Super2 cars, for the new season, with decorated engineers Adam De Borre and Erik Pender also linking up with the squad.
Zane Morse, Jett Johnson and James Masterton carried the AIM flag in Bathurst, before Masterton’s customer entry was parked.
Morse then suffered a wrist injury that ruled the rising star out of the Perth round, with Ryan Gilroy substituting.
Johnson then opted to sit out Townsville, with veteran Dean Fiore called up to the seat as Morse also returned. Unfortunately, Fiore was later involved in a heavy Townsville crash.
"Huge Thank you to all of our Supporters, Sponsors and The Team,” Morse posted to social media.
"Stay tuned as we move forward.”
Morse had three top 10 finishes in four starts in 2024, aboard his ex-Cam Waters Tickford Racing Ford Mustang. The other car damaged in the Fiore accident was also a former Waters Mustang, and is set for significant repairs.
In the interim, AIM will not be on the Sandown grid next month, but the family squad intends to stay in motorsport.
“We’re not leaving the sport we love,” Andre Morse told V8 Sleuth.
“We love motorsport, we love the people, but to stay competitive in Super2, it’s not viable for us as a small family team anymore.”
The 2024 Dunlop Series will resume at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 on September 13-15.
