Newcomers set for PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge finals
Triple Eight, BRT and BJR tied at the top after Sydney
Regular competition ends in Tasmania
A shock winner has emerged in the regular PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge season, with Supercars newcomers Blanchard Racing Team and Matt Stone Racing to feature in the Bathurst live finales.
BRT emerged on top of the standings after the six regular rounds, and will vie for overall honours and the Pit Stop Challenge Golden Rattle Gun with Triple Eight, Brad Jones Racing and MSR.
The Preliminary Races segment concluded at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint, after which first place was awarded $5500, second $3500, and third $2000.
The top four teams will compete in a live eliminator final, where the PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge Golden Rattle Gun and a cash prize will be up for grabs.
Remarkably, BRT took top spot despite not registering the fastest pit stop time in any race.
The Box Hill team's consistency was key to its success, placing fourth in New Zealand, fifth and third in Perth, sixth in Darwin, third and 12th in Townsville, third twice in Sydney, and second in Tasmania.
MSR, meanwhile, made headlines after setting the fastest time in Saturday's race on Nick Percat's car, paving the way to a remarkable win.
BJR will have a chance at extending its run to six with its crew on Jaxon Evans and Macauley Jones' cars, with Triple Eight eyeing its first victory in the challenge.
Details on the Bathurst finals will be released in due course.
The 2024 Repco Supercars will switch to enduro mode at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 on September 13-15. Tickets for the 60th anniversary event are on sale now.
Live coverage can be found on Foxtel, with live streaming available on Kayo. Highlights will be shown on the Seven Network and 7plus. International viewers can follow all the action on Superview.
