Tickford Racing has requested an investigation into the altercation involving Triple Eight Team Manager Mark Dutton and Thomas Randle after Sunday's Tasmania finale.

Motorsport Australia has received a request into the incident, which came after Randle sent Broc Feeney into a spin late in Race 18.

Randle went to the Triple Eight garage, seeking to apologise to Feeney. However, Randle was denied entry into the garage by Dutton, with physical contact made.

Jamie Whincup stepped in, with Randle walking away from the garage before undertaking a broadcast interview.

“I just wanted to go apologise to Broc, but I think he’d gone to the truck, so I think they’re going to go and grab him and I’ll go apologise, that’s all I can really do," Randle said.

“Dutto’s got some invisible line there, Jamie was fine, so he’s all good, all you can do is apologise and move on."

Triple Eight Technical Director Jeromy Moore defended Dutton, saying in the post-race press conference: "Heat of the moment, emotions are running high... we get upset when we lose a two-three, regardless of the scenario, but being probably from an influence from another team, you go into defence mode."

On Supercars.com's Schick Cool Down Lap podcast, published on Sunday night, Tickford CEO Simon Brookhouse said: "We're a professional sport, it's heat of the moment, everyone's pretty tense. And, you know, the guys are out there fighting tooth and nail for as many points as they can get."

Brookhouse added "there's been a bit of banter between the two garages since" and "it'll all be forgotten until they run into each other next time."

However, on Monday, Motorsport Australia confirmed it is now looking into the incident.

“Motorsport Australia has received correspondence from Tickford regarding a post-race incident in pit lane at this weekend’s Supercars event in Tasmania," a Motorsport Australia spokesperson said.

"We will now work with the relevant parties to determine the next steps and if any further action will be taken.”

Randle was involved with incidents with both Triple Eight drivers, with the Castrol Mustang driver and Will Brown both unpunished over repeated contact on lap 44 while disputing second place.

A robust exchange through Turn 7 saw Randle run onto the grass, allowing Feeney through. Five laps later, Randle turned Feeney around at Turn 4, dropping the latter to 15th.

Randle, meanwhile, was hit with a 15-second penalty and classified 18th.
