Cameron Hill feels Matt Stone Racing is on the rise, courtesy of a strong new-car shakedown and promising first hit-out with new Race Engineer Caleb Mutsaerts.

The Canberran hit the track at Queensland Raceway on Thursday to complete a shakedown of his new-for-2025 #4 Supaglass Chevrolet Camaro.

The new chassis, MSR-006, only had a permitted 60km of running, but Hill and his team still managed to pull off a solid day with some meaningful running.

Dick Johnson Racing, Team 18 and Brad Jones Racing also completed new-car shakedowns this week, headlined by Brodie Kostecki's first laps in a Mustang Supercar.

Anton De Pasquale drove his new DEWALT Camaro at Winton Motor Raceway on Thursday, while Andre Heimgartner got behind the wheel of his new BJR Chevrolet at Winton on Wednesday.

“It was a very good day, as far as shakedowns go — we got out on time at the very start of the day,” Hill said.

“I think the worst part of our day was just one of our wheel speed sensors; other than that it was a full ground-up build and the car ran faultlessly. That’s a massive credit to the boys in the shop.

“We’ve got a bolstered line-up this year with some new additions and I feel like the whole quality of the organisation is on the rise."

Crucially, Hill took the opportunity to get up to speed with new engineer Mutsaerts, who joined MSR after a two-year stint with DJR, where he primarily worked as a Data and Systems Engineer on De Pasquale's car.

“We just got into some solid running, the run plan that we were hoping to get through, and the changes," Hill added.

“I’ve got Caleb Mutsaerts working with me now as well as Paul Forgie, he’s still very much involved, and that whole dynamic was working really good.

“It’s nice to start developing that language.”

Hill's new-look Supaglass Camaro will roll out at the pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 19, and Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round on February 21-23.

Tickets for the test day and Sydney 500 - Opening Round are available now.
