Supercars.com will celebrate a special milestone in the Dunlop Super2 Series throughout the 2025 season.

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Supercars development series, which has grown from an extension of the former Privateers Cup of the late 1990s to become the ultimate proving ground for young talent.

The first ever round of what was then known as the V8 Lites Series was held at what is now known as Sydney Motorsport Park in March 2000.

For the record, the inaugural round won by eventual champion Dean Canto in a Ford Falcon EL.

The development series was initially run over five standalone events, but has run entirely as the primary support event at Supercars rounds since 2009.

In 25 years of competition, 22 drivers have been crowned Super2 Series champion, whilst 53 drivers have claimed round wins, and 81 drivers have claimed race wins.

The tally for both race and round winners grew at the season-opening event in Sydney, with Cameron McLeod and Jordyn Sinni claiming their first race victories, whilst Sinni also claimed round honours.

To celebrate 25 years of the Super2 Series, Supercars.com will be running several celebratory articles throughout the year.

Supercars.com has compiled a list of the 25 best drivers in Super2 Series history, with the countdown beginning today on Super2 Series social channels.

Web articles will group drivers together, namely drivers 25-18, 17-11, 10-6, and finally drivers 5-1, with a full list to follow as with the top 25 Supercars drivers since 2000 feature that ran in January.

More articles and features will follow through the course of the season, focusing on the incredible achievements of Super2 graduates, and some of the familiar faces that have graced the Super2 paddock throughout its history.

The 2025 Dunlop Series will resume at the Tasmania Super 440 on May 9-11.
