Ford marks Supercars success on 100th anniversary
Famous race cars on display at special centenary event
Ford has won 27 ATCC/Supercars titles, 20 Bathursts
Ford Australia has celebrated its racing heritage as the company celebrates 100 years of cars on the road and race track in Australia.
The Australian arm of the Ford Motor Company was founded in 1925, and over the last 100 years, Ford has made a huge impact in Australia.
The Blue Oval has left a lasting legacy on Australian motorsport, winning a record 27 Supercars/ATCC drivers’ championships, and winning 20 Bathurst 1000s.
A number of famous Ford race cars were on display at the Melbourne event on Friday, including both 1977 Moffat Ford Dealers Falcons and Dick Johnson’s Tru-Blu Falcon.
The 2006 Bathurst-winning Triple Eight Falcon and Marcos Ambrose's two-time title-winning Stone Brothers Racing Ford were also present.
In 2026, Triple Eight Race Engineering will return to Ford, having raced Falcons between 2003 and 2009, winning two titles and three Bathursts.
In a special video posted to Ford Australia’s social channels, the brand celebrated winning the first Bathurst Great Race in 1963.
"Racing has been in our blood since the beginning,” the video reads.
"Before Henry Ford mass produced cars, he raced them, driven by his passion to win.
"In 1963, Ford made history at Bathurst. We conquered the Mountain again, and again and again
."The harder we raced, the faster our rivals chased, as we went into battle for our Ford fans. From the dirt, to the track and everything in between, ‘round the clock and across the globe.
“But while rivalries are changed, our passion to win has not.
“Winning is in our DNA. It's what we do best, and we are not done yet.”
Ford will resume its Supercars campaign at next weekend’s ITM Taupō Super 440 on April 11-13.
