Matt Stone has stated his eponymous team is “very committed” to a future with General Motors amid Triple Eight’s brand switch.

Championship squad Triple Eight Race Engineering dropped a bombshell on the eve of the 2025 season, confirming it will switch from GM to Ford from 2026.

Triple Eight, MSR, Erebus Motorsport, PremiAir Racing, Brad Jones Racing and Team 18 currently represent GM in Supercars.

MSR has a technical deal with Triple Eight, but speaking at his team's three-car launch on Tuesday, Stone simply wants to beat them, rather than worry about their 2026 plans.

“For us, we just focus on the art of going racing. The GM thing, or the Triple Eight thing, was obviously a big story for everyone, but we’re very committed to GM," Stone said.

“We’ve loved the partnership with them over the last ‘X’ amount of years, I love driving a Silverado every day, so we’re definitely committed to GM in the future.

“They will undoubtedly fill us all in [on their racing plans] when it’s available, but we don’t get too caught up in that.

“We’ll focus on what we’re doing, going racing, let [Triple Eight] get distracted by their manufacturer shift and let us just do what we do and go out there and try and beat them.”

Ford is currently represented by Tickford Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Grove Racing, Dick Johnson Racing and Blanchard Racing Team. DJR is set to announce a new deal with Ford, while WAU has already confirmed it will race and homologate the new Toyota GR Supra in 2026.

MSR has raced on both sides of the divide, starting its Supercars journey in 2018 in a Falcon before making a mid-season return in Commodores.

Looking to 2025, Stone is excited by what’s to come, having bolstered its off-track program by promoting Paul Forgie to a new Technical Co-ordinator role, and signing ex-DJR engineer Caleb Mutsaerts to Cameron Hill’s car.

“The last few years post the pandemic we’ve built a fantastic crew of both team and supporters,” Stone said.

“But we’ve got four new additions to the team on top of that, so we are growing the team and our commitment to growing the performance.

“A few of the new guys and new roles we’ve got within the team, I’m really excited for what we can deliver on track with that added resource.”

MSR will take to Queensland Raceway on Thursday to shake down a new Camaro for Hill.
