Max Vidau will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia ranks in 2025 following a rollercoaster first season in the Super2 Series.

The South Australian-born driver returns to one-make Porsche racing following a competitive season in the Super2 Series last year.

Vidau claimed podium finishes in Perth, Townsville and Bathurst en route to sixth overall with Anderson Motorsport, but will not return to the development series this year.

Confirmed Tuesday, Vidau will run and prepare his own Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Car this year, run by his own Adelaide-based MVA Racing team.

The MVA 992 GT3 Cup Car contested the VAILO Adelaide 500 last November with Anthony DiMauro behind the wheel, with Vidau back at the helm in Sydney next weekend.

Vidau initially graduated from the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge into Carrera Cup, winning three races across three seasons.

“Last year was a tough season and we weren’t able to pull a deal together for Supercars this year,” Vidau said.

“We have the Cup Car in the workshop so I thought ‘let's have a crack’ and get back to enjoying the sport and doing it for the reasons we all started doing it for.

“We’re not going there with a view of anything else but having a great time, racing the thing as hard as we can and mixing it up at the front of the field like we used to.

“It’s just me, Dad, and some young blokes – I think the average age of the team is about 23. We’ve got some great supporters on board and we are working on other partners for the remainder of the year.

“It’s going to be great fun and hopefully a really good way to kick off the season.”

An eight-round 2025 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship will see Australia’s top one-make category support Supercars at Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin, Ipswich, The Bend, Bathurst, Gold Coast and Adelaide.
