The story so far
Feeney wins, rivals hit trouble
While Broc Feeney won a wet-dry thriller, the likes of James Golding, Will Brown, Anton De Pasquale, Kai Allen, Brodie Kostecki and Aaron Cameron all suffered headaches.
Feeney back on pole
Broc Feeney claimed pole after scraping through into the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout by the skin of his teeth. The first car on track, Feeney was on the money, and claimed his first pole position of the year after facing an agonising wait.
Mostert disqualified
Chaz Mostert was disqualified from Saturday's DUNLOP Sydney 500 race over a technical breach. The reigning champion raced from 22nd to 11th on Saturday. However, Walkinshaw TWG Racing advised before Sunday qualifying that Mostert will be scratched from Saturday's result.
De Pasquale, Team 18 back in victory lane
For the first time since 2023, Anton De Pasquale and Team 18 returned to victory lane, albeit as a partnership. De Pasquale claimed his first wins since Townsville 2023, while Team 18 ended a drought dating back to Darwin 2023.
Both Triple Eight drivers penalised
Broc Feeney and Will Brown were both penalised to the tune of 15 seconds, served at their second stops, over separate pit stop infringements. First, Feeney was penalised over an unsafe release. During the same pit stop sequence, it emerged that Brown had spun his wheels during his stop, incurring a breach.
De Pasquale claims surprise pole
Anton De Pasquale claimed a ninth pole at Sydney Motorsport Park in a wet-dry Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, beating Brodie Kostecki. Matt Payne was third ahead of Ryan Wood, with all three brands in the top four
Golding fast, Mostert 22nd
James Golding nailed provisional Race 2 pole in Saturday Boost Mobile Qualifying, ahead of Anton De Pasquale and Brodie Kostecki. The biggest loser was reigning champion Chaz Mostert, who after qualifying 20th on Friday, was caught out and qualified 22nd.
Feeney takes controlled win
Broc Feeney opened his account for Triple Eight and Ford after clearing both Blanchard Racing Team Mustangs through the pit stops. Aaron Cameron and James Golding rounded out the podium.
Golding cleared after investigation
James Golding kept his pole alongside teammate Aaron Cameron after an investigation into an alleged technical breach in Boost Mobile Qualifying. The investigation was understood to pertain to rear wing angle.
Golding leads shock BRT 1-2 in qualifying
In one of the all-time opening round upsets, James Golding claimed the first Boost Mobile Pole Award of 2026, as Blanchard Racing Team locked out the front row.
Allen fastest
Kai Allen kicked off the 2026 DUNLOP Sydney 500 with the fastest time in Practice 1. The 2025 Grand Finalist led Matt Payne in a Penrite Racing 1-2, following by rookies Jayden Ojeda and Zach Bates in third and fifth, and Anton De Pasquale in fourth.
