The 2024 edition of the Great Race bodes to be a ripper, with several driver combinations and teams tipped to challenge for victory.
This year's Repco Bathurst 1000 grid features 10 winners, 22 podium finishers and six rookies. There is star power everywhere you look, and as is the case with Mount Panorama, there are no guarantees.
The 10 winners have a combined 25 victories, led by Craig Lowndes (seven) and Garth Tander (five). Jamie Whincup has four wins, but last won in 2012.
The most experienced driver, to no surprise, is Lowndes, who has made 30 Bathurst starts. The most experienced line-up on the grid is Team 18's David Reynolds/Warren Luff pairing, who combined for 39 Bathurst starts (Reynolds 16, Luff 23).
The debutant field is led by full-timer Ryan Wood, along with rising stars Cooper Murray, Cameron Crick, Brad Vaughan, Cameron McLeod and Aaron Cameron.
The Penrite Oil Sandown 500 put on a show, with Triple Eight scoring a one-two finish. However, many drivers and teams didn't show their full hand, while others will be hoping their luck turns.
Who will emerge on top on October 13? Vote here in Supercars.com's poll, which will close on race week. Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are on sale now.
