Supercars releases statement on Triple Eight's Ford switch
Triple Eight announced Friday it will switch to Ford from 2026
Championship-winning team will campaign Chevrolet Camaros in 2025
Ford Performance has announced a landmark partnership with Triple Eight Race Engineering, effective from the beginning of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship season.
Triple Eight will again race under the Blue Oval, with plans to become Ford’s Supercars homologation team from the start of 2026.
The championship-winning team will campaign Chevrolet Camaros in 2025, with reigning champion Will Brown and Broc Feeney to steer the team's two Red Bull Ampol entries.
At current, GM is represented in Supercars by Triple Eight, Erebus Motorsport, Matt Stone Racing, PremiAir Racing, Brad Jones Racing and Team 18 in Supercars.
Ford, meanwhile, is represented by Tickford Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Dick Johnson Racing, Grove Racing and Blanchard Racing Team.
In response to the big news, Supercars CEO Shane Howard said in a statement:
We acknowledge Ford’s decision to appoint Triple Eight Race Engineering as its Homologation Team from the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship season, subject to the formal approval process with Ford’s Supercars teams.
This marks an important step in Ford’s commitment to the category as it looks to the future of its Supercars program.
This evolution has already sparked plenty of debate among our dedicated fan base, whose passion and loyalty has, and always be, the heartbeat of our sport.
We will continue to look forward to an exciting new chapter for the category, where Ford and Chevrolet are set to be joined on the grid by Toyota in 2026.
Triple Eight remains committed to General Motors (GM) for 2025, and we will now work with GM on plans for 2026 and beyond.
Tickets for the Sydney 500 - Opening Round, on February 21-23, are on sale now.
