The VAILO Adelaide 500 is looming as a significant round for Tickford Racing, which is on the cusp of 300 Supercars podiums.

Cam Waters' Race 21 victory at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 doubled as the 297th podium for Tickford, which debuted under the Ford Performance Racing banner in 2003.

The Gold Coast was already a momentous round for the team, which secured its first one-two finish in a race since, coincidentally, the 2017 Surfers Paradise round.

The team didn't have to wait long to claim its first podium, which came in a victory for Craig Lowndes at a sodden Phillip Island in 2003.

Lowndes' victory was the first of 87 wins for the team, which won the 2013 and 2014 Bathurst 1000s, and 2015 drivers' championship.

Should Waters and Thomas Randle bring home a double podium in one race and add another podium in the other, the team will join Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing in the '300 club'.

Only Triple Eight (30 podiums) and Walkinshaw Andretti United (10) have claimed more podiums in 2024 than Tickford, with Waters winning races in Perth, Townsville, Tasmania and the Gold Coast.

Triple Eight's two drivers will fight for the title in Adelaide, with Will Brown's 17 podiums the clear benchmark ahead of teammate Broc Feeney (13), Chaz Mostert (10) and Waters (seven).

Brown and Feeney will fight for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship at the VAILO Adelaide 500 from November 14-17. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
