  • "Something fundamentally wrong" at BRT, says Tim Blanchard

  • James Courtney, rookie Aaron Love down the order in Sydney

  • Courtney 21st and 23rd, Love 23rd and 25th in two races

The Blanchard Racing Team will go back to the drawing board following a difficult Sydney, with Tim Blanchard saying there is "something fundamentally wrong" at the Ford team.

James Courtney was 21st and 23rd, and rookie Aaron Love 23rd and 25th, in the two 200km races at Sydney Motorsport Park last weekend.

It came after a promising Townsville, where Courtney was a standout third in the Sunday Shootout, with finishes of 12th and 16th.

BRT entered the Sydney weekend with a significant change, with Race Engineer Raymond Lau departing the team, while Matt Saunders took on Courtney’s car. However, the change didn’t produce immediate results, with Courtney 18th and Love 23rd after Sydney.

Blanchard has now called on his team to “try and find a solution” in the four-week break between Sydney and Tasmania.

The 2024 season is BRT’s first as a two-car team, with the squad operating as a one-car team between 2021 and 2023.

“Not a lot of good news from the weekend. There is nothing positive for us,” Blanchard said in an official Ford Performance media release.

“We've got to work out what's wrong. There is something fundamentally wrong somewhere.

“At least we've got a bit of an extended break before Tassie to try and find a solution.”

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
