As 2024 winds down, Supercars.com is ranking the top 10 drivers of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship, continuing with Brodie Kostecki, who comes in as our #5.
It was a season of two halves for the reigning Supercars champion, but 17th in the championship doesn't tell the full story of Brodie Kostecki's year.
After a highly-publicised absence from the first two rounds, and rollercoaster middle part of the year, the Kostecki of old returned at the back end of the year. Once the planets aligned, 'Bush' was a force, reminding everyone that he is the benchmark when he has the tools at his disposal.
His performance at Mount Panorama will one day become the stuff of legend, while he made the concrete canyon of the Gold Coast look like a nice place for a Sunday drive. Any driver that can do that is worthy of any list, and that's why he made ours.

Why we picked him
Kostecki's start to the year, or lack thereof, was a difficult story to stomach, given how impressive he was in 2023. Kostecki reached the Shootout at his first round back in New Zealand, and claimed a podium at his third round in Darwin. However, before the enduros, his performance was masked by uncharacteristic reliability woes for Erebus. It seemed a matter of what, not if, he could show the speed that won him the title. After signing for DJR, coincidentally, he immediately bounced back at Sandown, fighting for the lead before reliability again brought him undone. Come Bathurst, and Kostecki was untouchable, dominating the Shootout and the race. He backed it up in Surfers Paradise with an equally imperious showing, before charging through the field twice in Adelaide to end his season on a high.
What we expect next season
It's a new era for Kostecki in 2025, with the 27-year-old joining Dick Johnson Racing and Ford in one of the most highly-anticipated driver moves in recent years. DJR has made no secret of returning to the pointy end, and the prized signature of Kostecki is the key piece of the puzzle. Renowned for his technical nous and uncompromising racecraft, Kostecki's legacy will be put to the test at a rebuilding DJR. Should DJR get it right with its new engineers and Erebus-built chassis, Kostecki will be a handful for his rivals. How soon they get it right will be key for his championship hopes, although the team has already circled the Finals.
