A practice crash has scuppered Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Friday running in Bathurst.
The #888 Mercedes-AMG car found the wall in Practice 3 at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.
Prince Jefri Ibrahim was at the wheel when he hit the Griffins Bend wall early in the session.
Ibrahim didn’t set a lap in the session, which was for Bronze-rated drivers only.
He managed to return the car to the garage for repairs.
However, damage to the front of the car ensured the #888 missed the remainder of the session.
It was one of two key incidents in the session, with Theo Koundouris crashing at the top of the Mountain.
A short turnaround ensured either car was in doubt for the twilight Practice 4.
Triple Eight did, however, return the #888 Mercedes to the track for the twilight session with Broc Feeney at the wheel.
It proved a bridge too far for the crew on the #47, however, following the Koundouris incident.
The Koundouris crash caused major right-rear damage to the #47 Audi.
Koundouris lost the rear of his car at Reid Park, and brought his car to a halt.
Cars will return to the track for Practice 4 at 5:05pm local time.
Tickets for the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour are on sale now.
