This weekend V8 Supercars will stage one of the Gold Coast’s biggest parades through the streets of Surfers Paradise.

From 2pm on Sunday 20 October, more than 250 performers and stars, plus a host of colourful floats and giant inflatables, will snake their way through Surfers Paradise – ushering in a week of thrilling on and off-track celebrations leading into the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600.

ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600 event manager Kurt Sakzewski said the V8 Superfest Gold Coast Parade would be a celebration of colour, music and motorsport to get Gold Coasters in the mood for a week-long party.

“The ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600 is the biggest, most exciting event on the Gold Coast. This year, we’ve made it even bigger and better with a full month of off-track entertainment,” Sakzewski said.

“The street parade will be full of colour and movement, a fantastic spectacle for everyone to be a part of. It’s a lot of fun for people and tourists on the Gold Coast to start the week.”

Sakzewski said parade highlights would include six giant V8 Supercar-themed inflatables and a range of floats featuring high-profile V8 Supercar drivers and Miss V8 Supercar finalists.

“The giant inflatables, the likes of which have never before been seen on the Gold Coast, have been designed specifically for the parade to capture the spirit of the event,” he said.

The two kilometre parade route will start at Appel Street at 2pm, before moving down Clifford Street, along the Esplanade, and up View Street.

The Esplanade will be the best vantage to experience the full extent of the parade and enjoy the running commentary. The parade will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes to pass by each point.

At the conclusion of the parade, the inflatables will be tethered to the ground at the corner of View Street and the Esplanade to allow spectators to capture photos.

“We recommend people arrive early to secure their vantage spot. The weather forecast predicts a beautiful sunny day on Sunday, so please remember to bring a hat, sunscreen and water.”

V8 Supercar drivers will make appearances at various events throughout the week, including a Dragonboat event at Lake Orr, Varsity Lakes on Monday evening and The Ultimate V8 Long Lunch at Shucked in Tedder Avenue, Main Beach on Thursday.

There will also be pop-up concerts throughout the week across the Gold Coast, a series of Miss V8 Supercars judging events and appearances, and a range of motor sport themed special events and exhibitions.
