Some of the world’s most jaw-dropping Speedway racing will be on show for fans at this year’s VAILO Adelaide 500, with the highly anticipated custom track layout and schedule for the NAPA Speedway - Sprintcars in the City revealed today.
With a track length of 342m and a track width of 17m metres, the VAILO Adelaide 500 NAPA Speedway track will allow for ultimate wheel-to-wheel combat and passing action, across all four days of high energy racing.
The temporary track will be situated within the current oval footprint, with the build commencing two weeks prior to the event and the oval restored eight days post racing.
Purpose-built to Speedway Australia’s regulations, with concrete barriers and catch fencing, the oval layout allows for a capacity of approximately 8,000 fans to watch all the on-track action.
Fans will have a new way to experience Speedway at the VAILO Adelaide 500, with bleacher seating at various locations of the track and ground viewing areas allowing fans to get closer than ever to all the fast-paced action.
Limited capacity NAPA Speedway VIP hospitality is also available with the package including viewing from the dedicated raised viewing area and food and beverage package. Tickets include General Admission to the VAILO Adelaide 500 and can be purchased through the event website.
Managed by the experienced VAILO Adelaide 500 team, an advisory committee including six Speedway industry specialists has been established to oversee the innovative project, including Doctor in Dirt Science, Allan Barlee, responsible for the track design, who is known as the ‘dirt whisperer’ across the country.
The custom design and schedule have already caught the eye of the Australia’s best Sprintcar drivers with current Australian Sprintcar Champion Lachlan McHugh, Jock Goodyear returning from the US and one of Australia's most successful drivers, James McFadden, ready to race in November.
Each driver featured on the Thursday and Friday night NAPA Sprintcar Invitational will be battling it out in their 950 horsepower Sprintcars (with a power-to-weight ratio higher than Formula 1 car) to take home their share of the impressive $100,000 prize purse.
The NAPA Sprintcar Invitational replicates the popular High Limits format in the US, and will feature explosive heats with maximum overtaking opportunities, resulting in qualifying, dash draws and last chance qualifiers, before the main feature races on Thursday and Friday nights. The NAPA Speedway schedule will also feature Wingless Sprints and Street Stocks.
General Admission tickets to the VAILO Adelaide 500, which includes access to NAPA Speedway, are $39 for Adults on Thursday, $79 on Friday or $39 with the After 4pm Friday option.
