Veteran engineer Perry Kapper to join Supercars
DJR engineer Kapper accepts Category Technical Director role
Kapper currently Anton De Pasquale's Race Engineer
In a major coup for the Repco Supercars Championship, veteran engineer Perry Kapper will join the category's technical team, following his departure from Dick Johnson Racing.
Kapper has accepted the Category Technical Director role with Supercars, bringing a wealth of experience to the Supercars team.
He has been with DJR since 2018, and recently spearheaded the development of Gen3 for Ford and DJR.
Kapper has been Anton De Pasquale's Race Engineer in 2024, with this weekend's VAILO Adelaide 500 the final event for both engineer and driver at DJR. De Pasquale will replace Mark Winterbottom at Team 18 in 2025.
The primary purpose of the Category Technical Director role is to manage Supercars' technical department, and be the bridge between the department and Supercars teams.
Kapper will also manage the current technical regulations, and in conjunction with General Manager of Motorsport Tim Edwards, develop an overall strategy for the future technical direction of Supercars and the Dunlop Series.
John Russell has overseen the technical team in 2024, having taken over the role from the late Campbell Little.
"We're incredibly excited to welcome Perry Kapper to the Supercars team," Edwards told Supercars.com.
"Perry has a proven track record in the championship, most recently with DJR, and was critical to the introduction of the Gen3 era.
"Perry will be a great addition to the technical department and brings a wealth of experience to the team."
The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will conclude at this weekend's VAILO Adelaide 500. Tickets for the November 14-17 event are on sale now.
