A delighted Dayne Warren is $10,000 richer after he clinched his second straight Supercars Eseries title.
Warren won at the Hungaroring on Wednesday to claim the Pro Series championship of the 2021 Cash Converters Supercars Eseries.
The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver was peerless from his fifth Swyftx Pole Position of the season, taking his fifth win.
It was his sixth win in seven starts dating back to the 2020 season, which he also won.
While pleased to claim the championship and the prize money, Warren - who was celebrating his 22nd birthday - said he wouldn’t do anything outlandish with the cash.
“The pace was good this week, and every other week,” he said.
“I’m just over the moon to take home another championship.
“There’s many things I could do with [the $10,000] but I’ll probably be boring and put it away.”
Warren survived an early challenge from Madison Down off the line.
Down and Warren made contact, but the latter managed to hold track position into Turn 2.
From there, he was never headed and crossed the line 1.3s ahead of Jackson Souslin-Harlow, with Jake Burton third.
“I noticed on the exit of Turn 1 he tried to push me wide, but there must have been a tonne of grip out there,” Warren said of the Down incident.
“I managed to hook around the outside and get him at Turn 2.”
Now a two-time winner for WAU, Warren also quipped he would love to steer a real-life Holden Supercar in the future.
For now, though, he was content to have delivered another championship for the team.
“I wouldn’t say no, that’s for sure,” he said.
“If that that opportunity came up, as everyone says, it’d be the opportunity of a lifetime.
“To win the championshp for the team is one thing, but to drive a Supercar is another.
“We’ll see how we go."
