Walkinshaw Andretti United have had insult added to injury, with the team fined over the bungled pit stop that ended Chaz Mostert's championship hopes in the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 finale.

Mostert was forced into pit lane from a top five position for a third pit stop, and plummeted into the midfield. The two-time Bathurst winner finished 11th, but ended the day 309 points behind championship leader Will Brown.

With 300 available at the VAILO Adelaide 500, Mostert is out of contention for the championship.

Speaking after the pit stop, team boss Ryan Walkinshaw labelled the error a "bitter pill to take," with Mostert also missing out on Saturday due to a gear position sensor issue.

After the race, Motorsport Australia confirmed the team has been fined $2500, advising:

During Race 22 of the BOOST MOBILE GOLD COAST 500, incorporating Race 21 and 22 of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship, the fuel hose from Car 2 was connected to Car 25, whilst in the Teams Pit Bay conducting a Pit Stop at 15:31.

Fine of $2500

PremiAir Nulon Racing was also fined and docked teams' championship points after James Golding was dropped without his right rear wheel. Officials added:

During Race 22 of the BOOST MOBILE GOLD COAST 500, incorporating Race 21 and 22 of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship, Car 31, whilst in the Teams Pit Bay conducting a Pit Stop at 14:36, was dropped from the air jacks with the right rear wheel off the car.

Loss of 30 Teams Championship Points and fine of $1500
