Supercars legend Russell Ingall congratulates Will Brown, hails burnout efforts
Ingall celebrated 2005 championship with similar burnout at Phillip Island
Brown clinched 2024 championship at last weekend's VAILO Adelaide 500
Will Brown's spectacular championship burnout efforts at the VAILO Adelaide 500 have earned the tick of approval from legend Russell Ingall.
Brown celebrated his maiden Supercars title with a smoke show on the Adelaide pit straight, with the Queenslander hanging out the side of his Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Camaro.
They were scenes reminiscent of Ingall's sensational burnout in 2005, when the then Stone Brothers Racing, sans helmet, celebrated in front of the Phillip Island crowd.
Brown's efforts impressed Ingall, who was pleased to see the burnout style return nearly two decades on.
"Congratulations Will Brown on the 2024 Championship. Welcome to the Club," two-time Bathurst winner Ingall posted to social media.
"It's a very special moment in a Motorsport career and was a pretty cool to see you keeping the iconic burnout alive."
Brown commented: "Thanks Russell Ingall, you definitely still own this burnout but I tried impersonating as best I could."
Brown echoed his own comments after the race, joking he wasn't as flexible as Ingall, and that he was hindered by the smaller cockpit of his Gen3 Camaro.
It was something Ingall poked fun at, adding: "Good effort dude considering that bloody Gen3 is like a sardine can."
Brown will commence his championship defence at Sydney Motorsport Park in February. Tickets are on sale now.
