Will Davison is looking to finish 2024 on a high note after a frustrating weekend at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

After a damaging enduro campaign saw the #17 Mustang cop heavy damage at both Sandown and Bathurst, Davison endured a torrid time at Surfers Paradise with a lack of pace.

Davison could only muster 22nd in both Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions, and recorded finishes of 19th and 20th in the two 250km races, finishing a lap down on both days.

The two-time Bathurst 1000 winner's Sunday misery was compounded by getting caught up in the dramatic lap 1 pile-up that brought about an early end of teammate Anton De Pasquale's day.

Despite his disappointing weekend, Davison still gained a place in the championship standings, moving up one position to ninth ahead of De Pasquale.

However, despite a difficult weekend, Davison said the Shell V-Power Racing Team was able to diagnose why the #17 was off the pace all weekend, and will take those learnings going forward to Adelaide and beyond.

"It was definitely one of the toughest weekends I can recall in the last 15 years. We were chasing the car all weekend and everyone's been trying lots of things," Davison said.

"Then, on the first lap, there's that big crash that saw Anton get taken out. I sustained a huge amount of damage to the rear of the car, which cost us a lot of rear downforce, and then we lost a lot of time in the stop repairing that, but the car felt a lot better, even with the damage.

"I know if we could qualify now, I'd be way, way, way faster. It's quite sad for the team and all of our fans because it was a terrible weekend, but at least we found some answers, just no results."

Dick Johnson Racing also dropped from fourth to fifth in the teams points behind Grove Racing, after the Braeside outfit filed a protest over a pit lane procedural breach on Saturday.

A silver lining for the Stapylton outfit was the dominant Sunday performance of 2025 recruit Brodie Kostecki, who has now dominated two of the past three races in a stunning return to form.

The final event of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will be held at the VAILO Adelaide 500 from November 14-17. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
