Thirty-year old Chris van der Drift gets his first real taste of Supercars during this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup after testing a Brad Jones Racing NewGen Commodore whet his appetite for the category back in 2013.
The Kiwi, who is now based in the UK, was keen to contest the endurance races and said Supercars was always a category he was interested when it comes time to settle in back home.
Van der Drift began with karting, winning multiple championships in New Zealand on his way to international competition.
The highly experienced Kiwi has been based in Europe since the beginning of 2003 and holds three European Championships – in Formula BMW, Formula Renault 2.0 and International Formula Masters.
His most recent championship came in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia last year, racking up seven victories, six pole positions and 10 podiums from just 14 races. Van der Drift currently races in the ADAC GT Masters in Germany and the China GT Championship.
