A multiple state and national title winner in karting, Hanson graduated to cars in 2019 with a strong rookie season in Formula Ford that delivered race wins at both state and national level.
He intended on moving into touring cars at the age of 16 with a TCR Series Australia drive in 2020, but the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic delayed his first full season in the category until 2021.
Last year, Hanson dovetailed a second season in TCR alongside his debut Super2 season, switching back and forth between the former’s turbocharged two-litre Audi and the latter's five-litre V8 powered Holden Commodore VF.
The Supercars move came through Hanson's recruitment by the Erebus Academy, which has forged links with Wyhoon's squad to develop the next generation of racers and mechanics.
Hanson won four races in his TCR car and turned in solid performances in Image Racing's Supercar, highlighted by a fourth place race result in Townsville and sixth place in qualifying in tricky conditions at Mount Panorama.
