10 stats that mattered: Tasmania SuperSprint

Not good reading for erstwhile leader Chaz Mostert

The Repco Supercars Championship returned to an historic footing at Symmons Plains.

Historically, it has been a Triple Eight-friendly circuit, and Shane van Gisbergen rang true that form.

Van Gisbergen swept into the series lead with a clean sweep, as erstwhile points leader Chaz Mostert had a shocker.

Supercars.com lists 10 key statistics that shaped the second round of the 2022 season.

58) Van Gisbergen ended the weekend on 58 career victories, and is now fourth all-time. He overtook Scott McLaughlin and Garth Tander (56 wins each).

7) Van Gisbergen also ended the weekend with seven Symmons Plains wins. Only Jamie Whincup (13) and Craig Lowndes (10) have more.

67) Only Anton De Pasquale is within 100 points of van Gisbergen heading to Albert Park; he is 67 points behind.

172) Mostert was outscored by van Gisbergen to the tune of 172 points in Tasmania, and is now 145 points from the series lead.

5) There have been five different pole winner in five attempts; Anton De Pasquale and Brodie Kostecki (Sydney), and Cam Waters, Shane van Gisbergen and Will Davison (Tasmania).

65) Will Davison's Saturday podium was his 65th, drawing him level with iconic team boss Dick Johnson. He moved ahead with another podium on Sunday.

4) It took Broc Feeney, who finished second on Sunday, just four races into his full-time career to secure a maiden Supercars podium.

Feeney helped Triple Eight to its 11th one-two finish at Symmons Plains.

371) David Reynolds secured a first podium since Sandown 2021 in Race 4, ending a 371-day dry spell without trophies.

2) Jack Le Brocq qualified a career-best second for Race 5, which was also the best qualifying result for Matt Stone Racing.

50.345s) Davison clocked a new practice/qualifying lap record in Practice 1, beating van Gisbergen's previous record set in 2021 (50.492s).

The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at Albert Park on April 7-10.
