First lap carnage has been a regular feature of the Supercars races at Hidden Valley since the very first race in 1998.

The high-speed run to a tight first corner triggered chaos among the front-runners in that opening encounter.

But it’s the stretch between Turns 1 and 4 that has seen the bulk of the mayhem over the years, including 12 months ago.

Lee Holdsworth was sidelined for three events due to injuries sustained in the 2016 crash where he made heavy contact with the left-side wall.

Take a look back at a handful of the opening lap incidents above as part of our video series marking 20 years of Supercars racing in the Northern Territory.
