  • First Taupō Supercars event headlined by two 60-lap, 200km races

  • 2024 ITM Taupō Super400 scheduled for April 19-21

Supercars has confirmed the track schedule for next month’s ITM Taupō Super400, which marks the championship’s first visit to Taupō International Motorsport Park.

The event takes place April 19-21, and will be highlighted by two 200-kilometre Repco Supercars Championship races, one each on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 3:05pm NZST (1:05pm AEST).

A bumper support category line-up will also compete at the event, with Porsche Carrera Cup Australia also making the trek across the ditch, as well as NZ-based racers from Central Muscle Cars, Toyota 86 Championship, and Formula Ford set to take to the track.

With five Kiwis on the Supercars grid, NZ Supercars fans will be spoiled for choice when it comes to backing their local heroes, several of whom will be racing on their home turf for the very first time as a Supercars driver.

Tauranga’s Richie Stanaway is currently the highest ranked Kiwi in the Repco Supercars Championship, sitting an impressive fourth in the standings following February’s season-opening Thrifty Bathurst 500.

Stanaway’s Grove Racing teammate Matt Payne occupies eighth in the standings, while race-winning Aucklander Andre Heimgartner and rookies Jaxon Evans and Ryan Wood will be eager to take the mantle of top Kiwi when action gets underway.

Works at Taupō International Motorsport Park are well underway, with temporary grandstands, paddock infrastructure, and other temporary and permanent work currently being built for the inaugural event.

An all-new pit exit has also been laid at the circuit, designed specifically for Supercars’ first visit to the venue.

The highly-anticipated event at Taupō has been met with huge demand, with only limited grandstand and general admission remaining.

Tickets to the inaugural ITM Taupō Super400 can be purchased via Supercars.com and Ticketek NZ.

The Repco Supercars Championship holds its second event of the 2024 season next weekend at the MSS Security Melbourne SuperSprint, where the championship will race in support of the Formula Australian Grand Prix.

The ITM Taupō Super400 will be the third event of the 2024 season, taking place April 19-21 in Supercars’ first event in New Zealand since 2022.

All Supercars events will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia and Sky Sport in NZ, with live streaming available on Kayo.
