Supercars has announced its arrival to the Gold Coast with a spectacular display on Gold Coast’s iconic beach, just days out from the start of practice at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

Matt Stone Racing driver Cameron Hill took to the sand in his Chevrolet Camaro, flanked by drift racer Mitch Pullen and off road racer Dexter Warren.

Pullen will be competing the newest addition to the Gold Coast 500 schedule, the Boost Mobile Pro DRIFT SLAM, a drifting competition to be held on Friday and Saturday evenings on the north end of the circuit.

While cars raced up and down the sand on The Spit, a Westpac rescue helicopter and Boost Mobile sightseeing helicopter took to the skies alongside stunt pilot Hayden Pullen’s HP Aerobatics stunt plane.

The stunt comes ahead of on-track action beginning on the streets of Surfers Paradise on Friday.

Major road traffic changes on the Gold Coast Highway and through Main Beach began today, with locals advised to expect delays on their commute through the area.

Festivities for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 begin Wednesday, with the annual Transporters on Tedder event taking place in Main Beach.

Two waves of transporters will transit Tedder Avenue at 10:45am and 1:30pm AEST.

Fans will then get to meet the entire Supercars field on Thursday evening at SuperFest, taking place under the Surfers Paradise sign on Cavill Avenue. The event begins at 5:00pm with a signing session from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

On-track action begins Friday October 25, with two 250km races across Saturday and Sunday. Live coverage of Queensland’s largest annual sporting event can be found on the Seven Network and Foxtel.
