Broc Feeney has made no secret of his "suboptimal" previous form on the Gold Coast, where the Triple Eight driver faces a make-or-break weekend in his championship challenge.

Feeney is 204 points behind teammate Will Brown with four races and 600 points remaining, with Chaz Mostert 21 points behind in third.

While Mostert is a two-time winner at Surfers Paradise, Brown and Feeney haven't had as good a time around the Gold Coast streets.

Feeney has a 15.0 qualifying average and results of 14th, DNF, 14th and eighth, while Brown has a 13.5 qualifying average and one top 10 in seven starts.

For a driver who claimed his maiden win at a street circuit, Feeney hasn't had the smoothest run on the Gold Coast, and wants to turn it around following a brace of enduro podiums.

“It’s just such a short turnaround between Bathurst and the Gold Coast," he said.

"It’s our shortest of the year so it’s exciting. It’s good to already be focusing on the Gold Coast, which is probably one of the most challenging races of the year.

"It’s a home race, so I’m looking forward to getting back out on track you know in such a quick turnaround.

"It certainly hasn’t been my best round over the last couple of years, so hopefully we can have a good crack this year. The last two years have certainly been suboptimal on my side so I’m keen to get there and have a good run."

No team has won more Gold Coast Supercars races than Triple Eight, its 16 wins coming in the last 36 completed races at the venue. Impressively, the team have had at least one car finish on the podium in 19 of the last 23 completed races.

Those numbers are yet to include Feeney, who was caught up in the infamous chicane pile-up in 2022.

Feeney jumped Mostert after Bathurst, but is still over a race behind Brown, who could clinch the title on Sunday. However, Brown insists he isn't keen on taking risks by racing defensively.

"The track is gnarly. It’s as crazy as it gets for a Supercar driver, throwing it around the kerbs, along the beach of the Gold Coast," Feeney said.

"It’s one of the ones we all look forward to, it’s one we all want to win. We all want the surfboard as a trophy so I’m excited to get out on track and just have a good, fun weekend.

"We’ve been solid the last few rounds so it’ll be good to keep that going into the Gold Coast.”

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on October 25-27. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
