Will Brown is determined to leave Townsville in the rearview mirror, with the championship leader putting “full focus ahead” on the second half of the season.

The Triple Eight driver arrives in Sydney with a reduced 78-point lead over teammate Broc Feeney, with Chaz Mostert and Cam Waters 174 and 389 points behind.

After a sterling run from 13th to third on Saturday, Brown had a 141-point buffer heading into the Townsville finale. However, he collided with David Reynolds and limped home in 24th, with Jamie Whincup labelling it Triple Eight's "worst day of the year."

The short turnaround between Townsville and Sydney has given Brown little time to dwell on the incident, but the Queenslander is adamant it is old news anyway. However, given the big hit to his lead, Brown knows he needs to bounce back at the scene of his very first Supercars win.

“We didn’t have the best weekend at Townsville, but I haven’t let that get me down and I’ve got full focus ahead for the rest of the championship,” Brown said.

"I’m really confident heading into Sydney, I got my first race win there, and had success there over the years, but we’ve got to bounce back after Townsville.”

The Townsville crash brought an end to Brown’s stunning start to the year, with the #87 Camaro on the podium in 12 of the first 13 races.

The points leader came unstuck in Townsville due to poor one-lap pace, leading to grid positions of 13th and 17th. For Brown, the key for Sydney is regaining the consistency he enjoyed in the first five rounds, which helped him build his sizeable points lead.

"It’s got pretty high tyre degradation, which I think we’ve been managing very well this year,” Brown added.

"We have to continue our consistency, as that has been the reason for our championship lead. Hopefully, this week we can bounce back, get some really good results and keep that consistency going."

Sydney action will commence on Friday, with 200km races to be held on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are on sale now. International viewers can follow all the action on Superview.
