Supercars has announced a crowd figure of 126,618 for this year's NTI Townsville 500, North Queensland's biggest annual sporting event.

Following the first ever Townsville Track to Town event where Supercars drove across the city to meet with thousands of fans, Reid Park lit up on track with arguably the best racing of the year over three days of incredible racing action.

That was capped off by Saturday night’s performance by three of Australia’s biggest live music acts, Tones and I, G Flip and Cyril who entertained thousands of fans and helped to deliver a bumper 15th anniversary edition of the event.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard said: "We are thrilled and delighted to have seen 126,618 passionate fans attend this year's NTI Townsville 500.

“The support and enthusiasm demonstrated by the crowd since we arrived, is a testament to the ongoing success this event has had in North Queensland.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to all the fans who made their way to Townsville to be a part of this year’s event, which included Saturday night’s memorable performances along with the spectacular Drone Light show.

“We love the Townsville event. The city always welcomes us with open arms, and the enthusiasm from the local community is unmatched.

“Townsville always brings something special to the calendar, and this year was no exception.”

“We would also like to express our gratitude to the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland, Townsville City Council, NTI, and our series partners for their support in making this event a resounding success once again in 2024.”

The Repco Supercars Championship now heads into the back half of the season with the Panasonic Air Conditioning Sydney SuperNight, which runs in just 11 days from July 19-21, under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park.
