Final pole position bragging rights in 2022 have fallen to Anton De Pasquale, who beat Will Davison to Race 34 pole in Adelaide.

De Pasquale and Davison paced the ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootout to secure a Shell V-Power Racing Team lockout.

It ensures the VALO Adelaide 500 finale, Holden's last race, will start with two Fords on the front row.

Provisional pole-sitter Cam Waters could only manage sixth in the Top Ten Shootout.

However, with De Pasquale beating Davison, Waters clinched the ARMOR ALL Pole Champion Award.

Waters ends a five-year Shell V-Power Pole Award streak dating back to 2017.

It did little to deter De Pasquale, who took his first pole since Perth in April.

“It felt good,” De Pasquale said.

“The reference lap of the dash was pretty similar, I was having deja vu into the last corner.

“It hooked up awesome, the guys have done an amazing job.

“To get to last pole of the year is awesome, obviously want to convert that to a trophy this afternoon."

The Shootout start was delayed by officials as they deliberated over whether Shane van Gisbergen would be allowed to take part.

Van Gisbergen had provisionally qualified in fourth, but was caught speeding in pit lane during qualifying.

He was later cleared and allowed to take part, but was only good enough for fourth.

David Reynolds opened proceedings with a 1:20.344s, which was immediately undercut by Todd Hazelwood.

Broc Feeney proved the surprise packet of the Shootout.

Feeney qualified eighth, but his 1:19.614s proved a mountain to climb.

Andre Heimgartner and Will Brown were unable to unseat the #88 Red Bull Ampol Holden.

Davison edged ahead with a 1:19.568s, a time van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert were unable to beat.

De Pasquale clocked a 1:19.382s to deny his teammate a chance at ARMOR ALL Pole Champion Award glory.

Waters and Davison entered the weekend on nine poles each, and the former pushed to 10 on Saturday.

Waters had a chance to go to 11, but an error at the final corner relegated the Monster Ford to sixth.

It ensured the final pole of the COTF/Gen2 era fell to De Pasquale — a driver who debuted five years after the era began in 2013.

The 78-lap Race 34 will commence at 2:45pm local time.
