2020 Matt Stone Racing SuperLite drivers Zane Goddard and Jake Kostecki will step up to solo full-time drives for the team in 2021 it has been announced this morning.

The pair shared the #34 Commodore as part of the team’s SuperLite program and were co-drivers for the Bathurst 1000 in 2020, as MSR moved from a single-car entry to a dual car operation.

Garry Jacobson, who was the squad’s other full-time driver in 2020 has not been named to return.

Kostecki’s cousin Brodie has also been named to make the leap to a full-time drive in 2021, with Erebus.

In a disrupted 2020, Kostecki and Goddard made solid inroads as rookies who had limited track time.

MSR team owner Matt Stone said: “It is great to be renewing with Zane and Jake and being able to take that next step in their journey into the main game by putting them up into a full-time drive with our team.

“It is something we have worked very hard on and are very passionate about, so it is good to see it come to fruition.”

Gold Coast born and raised, Goddard had season-best results of a 16th place qualifying result and one top ten finish, 10th at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“I am super grateful to everyone at Matt Stone Racing for allowing this opportunity, we’ve all been working for this for a long time and it is pretty cool to see it all come to fruition.” The 21-year-old said. Kostecki’s best qualifying was a 17th place start at Darwin and a 14th place finish at the same circuit.

“Signing for the 2020 season in the SuperLite program with Matt Stone Racing was a massive stepping stone for myself and now that I am going full time with the team is very exciting.”

The pairs signing makes it 21 confirmed drivers for the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship, while five drivers from 2020, including Jacobson are still yet to confirm their positions for next year.

Two rookies are confirmed (Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki at Erebus Motorsport) while Tim Slade returns to full-time driving with the newest Ford Mustang team on the grid, Blanchard Racing Team.
