New structure to support growth domestic operations, drive international expansion
Supercars CEO Shane Howard to transition into new Director – Motorsport role
Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises Ltd (RACE) today announced a new organisational structure to support the growth of its domestic operations and drive its expansion into international markets.
As part of the new structure, Supercars CEO Shane Howard will transition into the newly created role of Director – Motorsport.
The search for a new CEO to lead the business into its next chapter now underway. Mr Howard will formally transition into his new role upon the appointment of the new CEO, ensuring a seamless leadership handover and continued momentum for the sport.
Mr Howard has dedicated over 20 years to Supercars, previously serving as Chief Operating Officer before stepping into the CEO role in January 2022.
His leadership has driven some of the most significant milestones in Supercars history. He played a key role in launching the Gen3 era—the sport’s biggest transformation to date—while also shaping the new racing formats for 2025 and beyond. He worked closely with the South Australian Government to revive the Adelaide 500, helped secure Toyota’s long-anticipated entry into the championship, and led Supercars’ return to New Zealand. Additionally, he has collaborated with the West Australian Government on plans for a Perth street circuit and has overseen numerous commercial and business advancements that have strengthened the sport’s future.
In his new role, Mr Howard will focus on driving the strategic evolution of Supercars, including leading engagement with key motorsport bodies and OEMs, overseeing Toyota’s integration into the championship in 2026, and supporting international expansion initiatives. He will also join the Board of RACE as a Director to provide strategic guidance and expertise on motorsport-related matters.
Barclay Nettlefold, Chair of RACE, said: "Shane’s contribution to Supercars as CEO has been outstanding, and his expertise will remain invaluable as we continue to grow the sport. We thank him for his leadership as CEO and look forward to his continued impact in this new capacity."
Shane Howard said: "The demands of motorsport continue to grow, requiring an increasing level of focus and strategic direction to ensure the continued success of Supercars. After more than three years as CEO, I believe now is the right time to transition into a role that allows me to concentrate on the sporting and technical side of the business, which has always been a great passion of mine.
"I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished in recent years and remain deeply committed to the future of Supercars. I’m excited to continue contributing in my new role and I look forward to working alongside the business and the Board to evolve the sport and deliver long-term success for its stakeholders."
Further updates on the CEO appointment will be provided in due course.
