One of the key pieces of the 2022 puzzle has been confirmed, with Cameron Waters to remain with Tickford Racing.
Tickford confirmed Monday that Waters has signed a multi-year deal with the team.
Waters will continue with the Campbellfield-based team into 2022 and beyond.
Why Waters' new Tickford deal was a 'no-brainer'
There was little doubt over Waters’ plans with the team; Tickford held an option to retain the Mildura-born driver’s services for 2022.
Driver and team negotiated an all-new arrangement to continue their relationship.
Tickford also confirmed global energy drink giant Monster Energy also re-signed with the team on a multi-year deal as the naming rights partner of Waters’s Mustang Supercar.
Tickford has now locked in its full suite of drivers for 2022, with Thomas Randle, James Courtney and Jake Kostecki all confirmed in recent weeks.
The 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will be Waters’ seventh full-time main game campaign.
He made his main game debut in Bathurst in 2011, and won the 2015 Super2 title for Tickford.
Waters rose to the main game on a full-time basis in 2016 with Tickford, then under the Prodrive banner, and won the Sandown 500 the following season.
The 2020 season saw Waters emerge as a genuine title contender, with the 27-year-old finishing second behind champion Scott McLaughlin.
Waters is third in the points heading to this weekend’s Bunnings Trade Sydney SuperNight, having won two of three races at the last start WD-40 Townsville SuperSprint.
Waters has won three races in 2021
"It’s great to get this one locked away," Waters said.
"Obviously Tickford has been home for me for quite a long time and we’ve had a great journey together getting to where we are.
"I’m really happy to ink another deal with the team and I’m stoked to have the team at Monster Energy signing on with us as well.
"We’ve come a long way but there are definitely some big boxes we have yet to tick, without a doubt that’s our focus in the years ahead.”
The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will continue at this weekend’s Bunnings Trade Sydney SuperNight. Tickets for all four upcoming Sydney events are on sale now.
All sessions will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and streamed via Kayo. The Seven Network will broadcast live from 3:30pm AEDT on Saturday and 12:30pm AEDT on Sunday.
