Whincup confirmed alongside Feeney

Four-time Bathurst winner pairs with rookie

Jamie Whincup will partner Broc Feeney at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000, Triple Eight has confirmed.

Supercars Hall of Famer Whincup’s first Bathurst as a co-driver in 18 years will come alongside Feeney.

Garth Tander has also been confirmed alongside Shane van Gisbergen for a fourth time.

Van Gisbergen and Tander combined to win the 2020 Bathurst 1000.

It comes as Triple Eight Race Engineering announced Craig Lowndes will share a wildcard with Super2 driver Declan Fraser.

Lowndes and Fraser will compete aboard a #888 Supercheap Auto Commodore.

Whincup is now Triple Eight's boss

Whincup and Lowndes raced together at Mount Panorama between 2019 and 2021.

The 2021 race remains Whincup’s most recent Supercars start; he retired at season’s end.

Super2 champion Feeney replaced Whincup at Red Bull Ampol Racing, and is seventh after five rounds.

The young Queenslander scored a maiden Supercars podium in Tasmania in March.

Feeney will make his third Bathurst start; he raced alongside former series champion James Courtney on his 18th birthday in 2020.

Last year, Feeney shared a third Triple Eight entry with two-time Bathurst winner Russell Ingall.

Whincup, meanwhile, has assumed Team Principal and Managing Director roles at Triple Eight.

The 2020 race-winning combo is unchanged

Sunday’s news ensures just six of 28 cars have haven't got a signed co-driver.

Whincup is committed to delivering a record-equalling ninth Bathurst win for Triple Eight.

"All three cars we take to the mountain this year will have nothing but equal opportunity to deliver a result,” Whincup said.

"With myself piloting the #88, I look forward to working with the guys to dial in the cars during the week and then of course help each other in the race where possible.

"I can assure you the 50-plus people at Triple Eight don’t care which Triple Eight car wins the Great Race, as long as it’s one of us.”

Tickets for this year's Repco Bathurst 1000 are on sale now.
