Broc Feeney has beaten new teammate Will Brown to provisional Race 1 pole in Boost Mobile Qualifying, which ended in dramatic scenes in Bathurst.

Feeney and Brown will be the final two drivers out in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, which will set the grid for the first race of the Thrifty Bathurst 500 weekend.

David Reynolds planted his #20 TRADIE Beer Chevrolet into third, but set his time while local yellow flags were out for the beached #19 Penrite Ford of Matt Payne.

Reynolds and Chaz Mostert (#25 Mobil 1 Optus Ford) both improved and scored Shootout berths while Payne was beached, while several big names missed out.

Notably, Jack Le Brocq (#9 TFH Hire Services Chevrolet) was 12th, Payne 14th, Mark Winterbottom (#18 DEWALT Chevrolet) 19th, and Cam Waters (#6 Monster Energy Ford) 20th.

Shortly after the session concluded, Race Control notified that Reynolds, Mostert, Winterbottom, Ryan Wood (#2 Mobil 1 Truck Assist Ford), Macauley Jones (#96 Pizza Hit Chevrolet), Jaxon Evans (#12 SCT Logistics Chevrolet), Thomas Randle (#55 Castrol Ford), Will Davison (#17 Shell V-Power Ford), Aaron Love (#3 CoolDrive Ford), and Tim Slade (#23 PremiAir Nulon Ford) were all under investigation.

Todd Hazelwood (#99 TFH Hire Services Chevrolet) made it into the Shootout in fifth, a day after the 2017 Super2 champion was second in Practice 2.

The field rolled out for Boost Mobile Qualifying under overcast skies, with Brown (2:06.4426s) leading Feeney (2:06.6395s).

Payne beaches Penrite Ford at Murray's Corner

Feeney turned in a 2:06.1079s on his second lap, with Reynolds ahead of Wood. Cameron Hill (#4 Tyrepower Chevrolet) moved to third with a 2:06.5518s, with Richie Stanaway (#26 Penrite Ford) fourth with a 2:06.5530s despite a slide at McPhillamy Park.

Mostert moved into second with a 2:06.4216s as the final runs commences, before being dropped down by Hazelwood on a 2:06.4001s, then Brown on a 2:06.2855s.

Le Brocq was on the bubble in 10th when the chequered flag flew, with Payne beaching his Mustang at Murray's Corner.

All the while, Mostert powered to third on a 2:06.3864s before rookie teammate Wood jumped to seventh on a 2:06.5197s.

It bumped Le Brocq out of the 10, before Reynolds jumped from 12th to third on a 2:06.3308s, dropping Nick Percat (#10 Bendix Camaro) out of the 10.

Anton De Pasquale (#11 Shell V-Power Ford) was sixth, ahead of James Golding (#31 PremiAir Nulon Chevrolet), Wood, Hill, and Stanaway.

The Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout will commence at 1:05pm AEDT, which sets the grid for the 40-lap, 250km Race 1 at 4:10pm.
