Fernando Alonso, Zak Brown lap Bathurst-winning Commodore
Formula One champion, McLaren boss drive 2011 Bathurst winner in Spain
Duo also sampled former Allan Moffat Chevrolet Monza
Fernando Alonso and Zak Brown have taken to the track in two famous Australian race cars in Spain.
Brown, CEO of new Formula One constructors’ champions McLaren, is also part-owner of Walkinshaw Andretti United.
The American was joined by two-time F1 champion Alonso, who currently races for Aston Martin, at Motoland Aragon in Spain.
There, Brown and Alonso sampled some famous cars, including the 2011 Bathurst 1000-winning Holden VE Commodore and a Chevrolet Monza.
The Holden Racing Team-built Commodore (pictured at Laguna Seca in 2022, where Brown took part in the Velocity Invitational) famously won the 2011 Great Race, with Garth Tander holding off Craig Lowndes in one of the closest ever finishes.
Season’s done, so time for some fun on track in Spain with @alo_oficial in my 1976 Australian Touring Car Championship-winning DeKon Monza, 5 x IMSA-winning 1989 TWR Jaguar XJR-10, and my 2011 Holden Commodore that won the Bathurst 1000 with my team at the time, Walkinshaw… pic.twitter.com/PrbSwdVsRQ

The also drove the Chevrolet Monza formerly driven by Allan Moffat, as well as the 1989 Tom Walkinshaw Racing Jaguar XJR-1.
The cars are part of Brown’s multi-million dollar collection, with Alonso finally sampling the Commodore Supercar after missing out in late 2017 after a fuel shortage.
Alonso drove a Supercar at the 2022 Australian Grand Prix, sampling Thomas Randle’s Tickford Racing-built Castrol Ford Mustang.
In 2019, then McLaren F1 star Carlos Sainz and his WRC title-winning father also sampled the 2011 Commodore Supercar, in Spain at the Navarra circuit.
The Monza, meanwhile, raced in sports sedans in Australia after racing in IMSA in the United States. In his first year in the car in 1976, Moffat won at Surfers Paradise, Sandown and Oran Park.
Brown wrote on social media: "Season’s done, so time for some fun on track in Spain with @alo_oficial in my 1976 Australian Touring Car Championship-winning DeKon Monza, 5 x IMSA-winning 1989 TWR Jaguar XJR-10, and my 2011 Holden Commodore that won the Bathurst 1000 with my team at the time, Walkinshaw Racing. Fun day."
