Jett Johnson to make Super2 debut in 2024
Third-generation racer to steer ex-Tickford Racing Gen2 Mustang
Johnson finished second in 2023 Super3 standings
Jett Johnson will rise to the Super2 ranks in the Dunlop Series, with the third-generation driver steering a NAPA Auto Parts Ford for AIM Motorsport.
Johnson, grandson of Dick Johnson and son Steven, will race for AIM Motorsport alongside Zane Morse.
The teenager will race an ex-Tickford Racing Gen2 Mustang, with his Super2 debut coming at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 next weekend.
Johnson’s pathway to Super2 came after he won the 2022 TA Muscle Car Series, before taking second place in last year’s Super3 Series driving a Nissan Altima.
Experienced engineer Erik Pender will skipper Johnson’s efforts this year, which will come with backing from NAPA Auto Parts, Titan Caravans, Shell V-Power and PIRTEK.
Johnson’s rise has been aided by NAPA Auto Parts, which enters its fourth year providing the NAPA Motorsport Academy to aspiring stars.
“It’s great to continue my motorsport journey with NAPA Auto Parts into the Dunlop Super2 Series,” Johnson said.
“I tested the Gen2 Mustang at Winton recently and it was really fast. It’s the best race car I have ever driven and I’m really looking forward to the season.
“Last year was terrific to learn the circuits in a Supercar, understand how to get the most out of the tyre in qualifying and really prepare myself for the next step into Super2. It’s a big step, but it’s a challenge that I’m ready for.
“This simply isn’t possible without the support of Titan Caravans, NAPA Auto Parts, all of my other partners and of course my family. They have my back and I’m really excited for the 2024 season.”
Mitch Wiley, Executive General Manager - Marketing at GPC Asia Pacific, said: “NAPA Auto Parts is proud to continue its support of Jett Johnson into the Super2 category.
“This will be the third year that we have teamed up with Jett as his climbs his way through the motorsport ranks, and we can see that he is starting to make his own mark on the sport.
“Jett is a perfect fit for the NAPA Auto Parts Motorsport Academy and we look forward to bringing academy members more content and more support during the 2024 season.”
James Creswick, Titan Caravans Australia Managing Director, added: “Titan Caravan's Australia is proud to be supporting Jett on his motorsport journey alongside his other blue chip sponsors in 2024 and beyond.
“My family has had a strong interest and following in Australian motorsports for many years, and to be able to support Team Johnson along with the Johnson family is a true honour and privilege.
“The whole Titan team is really looking forward to cheering Jett on this year and many years to come."
