BRT Ford to share track with SuperVan 4.2, Ford road cars
Liam Lawson will get behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang Gen3 Supercar at Albert Park, and is set to take James Courtney for a hot lap.
The rising Kiwi star, who deputised for Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri in two Grands Prix last year, will hit the track in Melbourne on Thursday ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix.
Lawson’s laps come ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix, which shares the stage with the MSS Security Melbourne SuperSprint.
The 22-year-old, who drove a Red Bull RB7 at last year’s Bathurst 12 Hour, will drive the ex-Tickford Racing Supercar, now Blanchard Racing Team's third chassis.
The car, chassis TR-27, was driven by Courtney at last weekend’s Adelaide Motorsport Festival, with former Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner riding shotgun.
The Mustang has been wrapped in a special Ford Performance livery, with Lawson's name applied to the car. It will appear alongside the Daniel Ricciardo-driven Ford SuperVan 4.2 and Ford road cars for two demonstration sessions on Thursday March 21.
The first session will commence at 12:00pm local time, before the second session at 4:00pm, when Courtney will sit alongside Lawson in the Supercar.
Supercars will also hit the track on Thursday for two practice sessions, two qualifying sessions and the first race of the weekend, Race 3.
