  • Tickford jumped Ford rival WAU to second

  • Tickford was fifth in Townsville pit lane order

Tickford Racing has continued to climb up the order, with the Ford team securing an eight-year first for Tasmania despite Chaz Mostert's Sydney sweep.

Cam Waters and Thomas Randle delivered two double top 10s in Sydney to help Tickford jump Walkinshaw Andretti United in the teams' championship. Randle finished third on Saturday, before Waters came home second on Sunday.

Tickford, which was fifth behind WAU, Penrite Racing and the Shell V-Power Racing Team after Darwin, will occupy second in the pit lane order in Tasmania.

It's the highest pit lane position for Tickford since 2016, when it occupied second in the lane after it finished runner-up to Triple Eight in 2015.

The Campbellfield squad duly responded to team boss Simon Brookhouse, who called on Tickford to claim lead Ford honours after Townsville.

Triple Eight remains on top, albeit by a reduced 802 points over Tickford. WAU is, however, just 13 points behind its Ford rival.

Penrite Racing was 117 points behind WAU after Townsville, and despite retaining fourth, is now 183 points down despite Matt Payne's second and fourth placings. Richie Stanaway finished 16th and 21st in Sydney, with Ryan Wood 13th and 16th.

Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing swapped positions again, with Nick Percat (eighth and eighth) and Cameron Hill (11th and 14th) taking MSR above its Chevrolet rivals.

David Reynolds (17th and 17th) spun battling Broc Feeney on Saturday, and was hit off the road in a dramatic melee on Sunday. Mark Winterbottom, meanwhile, was 24th and 13th on a weekend that came undone due to a first-lap Saturday clash.

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on August 16-18. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

Live coverage can be found on Foxtel, with live streaming available on Kayo. Highlights will be shown on the Seven Network and 7plus. International viewers can follow all the action on Superview.
