Orange-based racer Cody Burcher is taking the next step in his motorsport career and will move into the Dunlop Series in a Super3 car in 2024.

The 20-year-old today confirmed he will drive a Nissan Altima for Melbourne-based MW Motorsport run by former driver and long-time team owner Matthew White.

Burcher finished third in the highly competitive Toyota GAZOO Racing Australia 86 Series in 2023, topped the points at two rounds and won four races, including the last race of the Bathurst round.

“The move into the Dunlop Series in Super3 with MW Motorsport is an exciting step for my career,” Burcher said.

“To carry the relationship with AWCON and all my supporters into Super3 with MW Motorsport is something I am very excited about. I am looking forward to learning from the MW Motorsport team’s huge level of knowledge.

“To win at Bathurst, on Sunday at my home track, was a real highlight of 2023 but I’m now fully focused on moving into Super3 for this season.

“Being from Orange, I’ve been going to Mount Panorama and the Bathurst 1000 since I was a little kid, so to be stepping into a Supercar this season is very cool.”

Bircher’s first taste of a Supercar came at a Walkinshaw Andretti United Evaluation Day at Winton last October behind the wheel of one of the team’s Super2 ZB Commodores.

Burcher will get his first taste of his new Super3 car in a test day at Winton at the beginning of February.

In addition to finishing third in the Toyota GAZOO Racing Australia 86 Series last year, Burcher also finished third in the Scholarship Series for the popular Toyota sportscars.

Burcher is no stranger to racing V8s either having spent 2022 competing in the National Trans Am Series.

Burcher also finished third in the 2021 Australian Formula Ford Series despite being forced to miss a round.

The Dunlop Series begins at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 at Mount Panorama on February 23-25.
