Nick Percat has completed the final part of his move to the Gold Coast, with his personal effects arriving from Melbourne on Wednesday.

Sharing the update to his social accounts, the BJR driver initially relocated to Queensland in late July.

Living out of a suitcase since the Townsville doubleheader last month, lockdowns, and COVID restrictions in Melbourne meant he was unable to complete the move himself.

Now settled on the Gold Coast, Percat’s beloved chocolate Labrador Nelson has also made the move to the warmer climate.

Sharing videos of his new apartment with partner Baylee Mullen, the Adelaide-born driver thanked the team who helped them with the tricky process.

“Thankfully our removalists packed up our whole kitchen for us,” Percat told fans.

“Everything like Vegemite got wrapped, and I found this really good one...it’s pretty important...tape and sauce sachets!”

A few hours later, the unpacking was complete, seeing Nelson cuddling his favourite soft toy and relaxing on the balcony.

The 2011 Bathurst winner included a tour of his trophy display, including the hallowed accolade he claimed at Mount Panorama.

“My Bathurst trophy has been in storage and needs a polish, but I’ve got my Douglas stuff too, how good,” Percat said.

Speaking to Supercars.com during an all-in driver zoom chat last week, the 32-year-old explained why he needed a change of scenery.

“Anyone who knows me knows I have threatened to move for many years,” he said.

“The timing of it all and lockdowns stuff just made it easy, Baylee’s up here with me and Nelson, we packed our bags for Townsville, and that’s all we have still.

“I have more team gear than I do casual clothes, but you don’t need much up here so it’s alright.

“We are enjoying it and I can see why everyone moves up to the coast, to be honest.

Percat currently sits eighth in the championship

“The only reason I stayed in Melbourne for as long as I did was my mates, but we are older now, so everyone is getting on with their lives.

“The lifestyle in Melbourne just didn’t suit what I wanted anymore.”

Admitting he would still travel to Victoria to visit family and to race go-karts, Percat is currently taking part in PAWGUST to raise money for Guide Dogs Australia.

He will travel back to Victoria when the Repco Supercars Championship season resumes at Winton Motor Raceway across October 2-3.
