Robotham, MW Motorsport join forces in Dunlop Series

Jaylyn Robotham will race a MW Motorsport-prepared Ford Mustang at the upcoming Thrifty Newcastle 500.

Robotham’s Dunlop Series comeback will come in the first round of asking next weekend.

The 20-year-old, who made his Repco Bathurst 1000 debut last year, will also race in this year’s National Trans Am Series.

The Victorian made his Trans Am debut last weekend at Symmons Plains with The Racing Academy, and finished third overall.

Robotham’s MW Motorsport cameo sees the two parties reunite after three years.

Back in 2020, Robotham won all four races for the team in the COVID-shortened Super3 season.

Robotham most recently raced for Image Racing in Super2, and won last year’s first race in Sydney.

He then made his Repco Bathurst 1000 debut with Matt Chahda, and they duly finished on the lead lap in 18th position.

There had been questions over MW Motorsport's Dunlop Series presence in 2023, given the team previously raced Nissan Altimas.

The team ran Nissans for Tyler Everingham, Thomas Maxwell and Angelo Mouzouris last season.

Everingham has signed a Tickford Racing co-driver deal for 2023, and will also race in Trans Am.

Maxwell, meanwhile, has joined TekworkX Motorsport for the 2023 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship.

Robotham will race one of seven Mustangs in Newcastle in Super2, alongside Brad Vaughan and Elly Morrow (Tickford Racing), Aaron Love (Blanchard Racing Team), Zak Best (Anderson Motorsport), Zane Morse and James Masterton.

The 2023 Dunlop Series will commence at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on March 10-12.
