Aaron Cameron secures Middle East open-wheel drive
Cameron finished runner-up in 2024 Dunlop Series
Victorian also impressed at Sandown, Bathurst with BRT
Aaron Cameron will make a surprise switch to Formula Regional Middle East Championship in 2025, following a standout season in Supercar machinery.
Cameron finished second overall in last year’s Dunlop Series, behind champion Zach Bates and 2023 champion Kai Allen.
The Victorian also impressed in his maiden full-time Supercar starts with the Blanchard Racing Team at Sandown and Bathurst alongside Aaron Love.
Cameron, who will race for Evans GP, has plenty of experience in open-wheelers, notably winning the S5000 title in 2023 before pursuing Supercars.
Cameron has yet to publicly commit to Super2 in 2025, having raced for Kelly Racing last season, but remains a strong option for teams for the enduros.
The 2025 Formula Regional Middle East season takes place across five consecutive weekends, and concludes on February 25-27, a week after the Super2 season opener.
The season will take place at the Yas Marina Circuit, Dubai Autodrome, and Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
“I’m really looking forward to joining Evans GP for the 2025 FRMEC season,” Cameron said.
“It’s a new challenge for me in a very competitive series, and I’m excited to work with the team and my teammate, Kai Daryanani.
“Evans GP has shown its strength as a team, and I’m eager to get started and contribute to a successful season.
“I am excited to be racing in a series that has been a stepping stone for many drivers aspiring to race in Formula 1 and to continually try to improve my diverse skill range in any sort of racing car.”
The upcoming Dunlop Series season will commence in Sydney on February 21-23.
