It was a big season for moving through the field, with 2024 seeing some huge runs through the pack.

Three different drivers gained 17 positions in a single race this season, while one driver gained 11 or more positions three times.

The biggest movers in a race were Chaz Mostert, Richie Stanaway and Nick Percat, who each moved forward 17 positions in Darwin, New Zealand and Tasmania respectively.

Mostert heads the list, rising the highest of the trio to fifth at Hidden Valley after starting a lowly 22nd. Plagued by wobbles on the Super Soft tyre, Mostert had it all to do, and sliced through the field in a stunning performance.

While Darwin was held in stifling heat, Stanaway had to charge through the pack in driving rain in New Zealand, finishing sixth after starting 23rd. The Penrite Racing driver had few highlights in 2024, but this performance was one of those.

Then, there's Percat, who powered from 24th and last to seventh in the Symmons Plains finale, a day after winning the Saturday race. It was yet another staggering performance in 2024 for Percat, who was a standout with Matt Stone Racing.

A driver who deserves plenty of praise, and has done in being named one of Supercars.com's best drivers of 2024, is PremiAir Nulon Racing driver James Golding.

Golding gained 15 positions the same day Stanaway motored through at Taupō, and also jumped up 11 spots a day later. Later, at the Sandown 500, Golding combined with David Russell to jump from 14th to third.

Mark Winterbottom also proved he's still got it, moving from 23rd to ninth in a chaotic Tasmania finale, the same day Percat completed his 17-position jump.

The dramatic Sandown enduro was the scene of three 11-plus position jumps; Craig Lowndes/Cooper Murray raced from 18th to fifth, while Bryce Fullwood/Jaylyn Robotham moved from 23rd to ninth.

Andre Heimgartner, meanwhile, atoned for a qualifying crash to power from 17th to sixth in a stirring drive at the Gold Coast, helping him secure 10th in the championship.

Drivers will vie for three wins at Round 1 in Sydney on February 21-23. Tickets are on sale now.
