There is set to be a different look to the pit lane when Supercars races at Taupō International Motorsport Park later this month.

The season began in Bathurst with the pit lane order allocated off last year's championship standings, with reigning champions Erebus Motorsport heading the field.

Come the ITM Taupō Super400, however, the pit lane order will look markedly different, given Supercars has introduced the Live Pit Lane rule in 2024.

At Round 1, champion team Erebus occupied Pit Bay 1. The team with the second highest points, Red Bull Ampol Racing, occupied Pit Bay 2, and so on.

From Round 2 onwards, the pit lane order will be allocated by Supercars based on the final classification of the team points report of the previous event.

In New Zealand, runaway teams' championship leaders Red Bull Ampol Racing will occupy Pit Bay 1, with Penrite Racing to occupy Pit Bay 2.

Penrite Racing finished fifth in 2023, and will move up three pit bays relative to Bathurst. Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing finished eighth and 10th last season, but are third and fourth after impressive starts to 2024.

Erebus, meanwhile, has dropped four spots to fifth, while Brad Jones Racing will be ninth in the Taupo lane. BJR, which has encountered a tough start to 2024, finished an impressive third last season, ahead of Tickford Racing and the Shell V-Power Racing Team.

Tickford has dropped from fourth to seventh, while Dick Johnson Racing is 10th in the teams' championship after two rounds, ahead of newly-expanded Blanchard Racing Team.

The new-look pit lane order will be locked in ahead of the inaugural ITM Taupo Super400 on April 19-21.
